AUSTIN, TX– October 29, 2004 – Digital Lifestyles Group, Inc. (OTCBB: DLFG), makers of hip-e and Northgate computing products, announced today that it will join forces with Russell Simmons, BET.com, Black Enterprise, MyFICO.com, Chevy Chase Bank, and UniRush Financial Services to participate in Simmons’ “Get Your House in Order” financial empowerment and home ownership readiness event. Sponsored by Simmons’ company Rush Communications, the event will take place at Howard University during its Homecoming Weekend (October 29 – 30, 2004), and will offer attendees financial seminars, tools and education with an overall goal of assisting African Americans and underserved multicultural families in increasing their rate of home ownership nationally. Attendees will be able to log on to one of several Northgate computers at the event to learn more about various financial tools and planning resources available to them. In addition, they will get a sneak hands-on preview of hip-e nodes, the world’s first lifestyle computer and entertainment systems inspired by teens and designed to connect with today’s youth.
“Empowering America’s youth has been central to our mission at Digital Lifestyles, and we’re very excited to support Russell Simmons, Rush Communications and Howard University at the ‘Get Your House in Order’ event,” says Kent Savage, CEO at Digital Lifestyles Group. “By participating in the event, we will be able to contribute to and help educate students, parents, and individuals about the importance of financial literacy.”
Digital Lifestyles will provide technological support at the conference and offer the use of Northgate computers and hip-e nodes to attendees for a fun and interactive way to gain more knowledge about the financial tools, information and services that are available to them in order to learn how they can own the home of their dreams. The company will also provide several Northgate computers at partner booths throughout the event.
The “Get Your House in Order” event will be held at Howard University, on the second floor of the Blackburn Center on Friday, October 29th and Saturday, October 30th, 2004 from 12pm to 5pm. In conjunction with BET.com, Digital Lifestyles will also donate one of its Northgate desktop computers to an attendee at the event.
“We are extremely pleased that Digital Lifestyles is able to participate with us in this important event,” said Russell Simmons, CEO of Rush Communications. “The Get Your House in Order initiative provides an excellent opportunity for Digital Lifestyles to use its computer technology to promote financial empowerment through education.”
