Digital Lifestyles and Ecount empower teens with hip-e prepaid cards
New hip-e Cards Allow Teens to Shop Online and Offline through the hip-e Hangout and Visa® Merchants
AUSTIN, TX – November 30, 2004 – Following the introduction of the hip-e brand, the world’s first lifestyle computer and entertainment system designed exclusively for teens, Digital Lifestyles Group, Inc. (OTCBB: DLFG) today announced a collaboration with Ecount (www.ecount.com) to provide prepaid Visa cards that will be available with all hip-e nodes and nodebooks. Consistent with hip-e’s mission to meet teen’s lifestyle and digital needs, the new hip-e branded cards will provide teens with the purchasing power of a reloadable prepaid Visa card, instant cash access at ATMs worldwide, and online money management tools, while also giving parents the opportunity to monitor their teen’s spending.
“hip-e cards are a great instrument for teaching teens financial responsibility, while giving parents the security of knowing their children cannot overspend or accumulate debt,” said Kent Savage, CEO of Digital Lifestyles Group. “The hip-e card offers parents peace of mind by allowing them to oversee their teen’s spending, while offering the teens the freedom to do things like shop, download music and movies or purchase concert tickets on their own.”
The hip-e card will be embossed with the teen’s name and serve as their personal payment plastic for traditional shopping and spending anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted. Moreover, the hip-e cards will give teens the independence to interact with the e-commerce components inside of the hip-e hangout interactive desktop.
The hip-e hangout is a fresh, fun and new approach to an interactive desktop experience that is inspired by how teens use computers and the Internet. The hip-e hangout is the centerpiece of a teen’s digital lifestyle that seamlessly ties in all the elements of hip-e’s hardware and software in one simple, relevant and customizable interface. It is designed to make all of the applications teens most frequently use their computer for, readily available at their fingertips. With the hip-e hangout and a hip-e card, teens will be able to:
